Hollow-Turned Vessel
Rhododendron Wood
"Oh My" Series

Rhododendron is another one of my favorite wood species, usually small in size (large rhododendron trees are hard to come-by), but very fine turning material known for its hardness and durability. The original "Oh My" Series of pieces were a lot larger, and the namesake was created due to the first words out of someone's mouth when seeing those pieces first-hand.

That shape of the "Oh My" Series was a hollow-turned sphere with a hole(or holes) through the turning, the hole being created by a void or voids in the wood due to rot, insects, iclusions of rock or dirt or other such anomalies. This particular piece contains those similar characteristics. Very small in size, but a gem to hold, this piece given a second life will be around for more years than the original lifespan of the rhododendron tree.
